Internet Explorer unusable Windows 10 1709

Hi,
We have Windows 10 1709 and we are trying to evaluate Touch-It Virtual Keyboard's suitability for our 200 device fleet of panasonic toughpads.
However, we have a reproducible issue when this software that makes Internet Explorer unusable when attempting to enter an address that is not the default home page or when using it in the search field. The computer CPU goes to 100%, but not necessarily for IE.
Opening an IE shortcut for our home page from the desktop will open but takes along time to do it with the CPU heavily utilised to get there. The home page doesn't have Enhanced Protected Mode applied.
Opening an IE short cut to something other than our home page (eg google) causes IE to open after a very long time. But then it is a non-responsive browser that doesn't render the web page - basically useless. Everything other then our home page does have Enhanced Protected Mode applied.
Is there a known issue with Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 1709. Is there any fixes to resolve this issue? If not, we will need to explore alternative software. Thanks
